Graphics Evaluation

Final Piece: Double Page Spread

This is my final piece that i have created using Indesign. This is my final Double Page Spread.

Work In Progress: Double Page Spread

I used InDesign to create my Double Page Spread. I put in guidelines and columns to make sure that the type and all the other elements that I have included, to make sure that it looks like a double page spread.

Firstly, I started to put in my images onto my double page spread, I had to make frames to place my images in. I made the frames different triangle sizes, to look like my final double page draft.
I also created text boxes to put my text in, I fill the text boxes with lorem ipsum.

I wanted to have 2 of the photos on the double page spread in black and white and the other 2 of the photos to have a pink overlay on top. To do that, I opened up the image I wanted to use on Photoshop. I changed the levels of the image and the colour balance of the image as well. Then I went onto the Hue/saturation and I altered them to what I wanted them to be and I clicked colourise which made the image have a pink overlay over the top. Then I placed the image into InDesign.

Once I changed the colour of the image and placed it back into InDesign, I resized it and placed it where I wanted it to go on the double page spread.

Next, the other image that I wanted to have a pink overlay over, I chose and took it into Photoshop and again I changed the levels and the colour balance of the image. Then I changed its hue/saturation and clicked colourise and it changed the image to have an pink overlay.

Agter, I changed the colour of the image, I placed it back into InDesign and readjusted/placed it where I wanted it to go. I resized the image to make it fit, in the frame where I wanted it to be.

Next, I added the headline onto the double page spread, I chose two different fonts to make them contrast. I resized the text as well.

I also changed the colour of the word "New" to pink. I wanted elements of pink on my double page spread, so that it would link in with my magazine cover. I made some of the text pink to make it protrude.

Next, I added in a circle onto the double page spread, and this would be where the pull quote would go. I changed the circle opacity, so that you could still see the images behind it.

After that, I added in a pink box and this would be where I would put the stand first text onto. I used the colour pinl again, to make it stand out and to link with the other pink in the double page spread.

Next, I decided to change the headline "New" type, because I thought that it need more interest and appeal about it. so I went on Dafont. I chose the typeface Nouvelle Vague, I chose that typeface because it was a modern serif typeface and I thought that it protruded well and it added interest onto the double page spread.

After, I changed the word "New" to Nouvelle Vague typeface, I decided to change the whole headline typeface to the same (Nouvelle Vague) because I thought that it would look more appealing.

Next, I added the stand first type in and I placed the text on top of the pink box. Also, I decided to realign the headline text to the edge of the image, to make it look more professional.

I then, came up with a pull quote to link in with the whole of the double page spread.

I printed the double page spread off that i created and marked the changes i needed to make on it.

I decided to change the typeface of the stand first to Didot and change the colour of it to white, to make it easier to read and understand. I also decided to move the circle and the pull quote to the bottom of the double page spread, so that it didn't cover up the images and the models face.

I made the quotation marks more clear and bigger, so that you would be able to tell that it was a pull quote.

I changed the pull quote text to white, to make it protrude against the pink circle and it also made it easier to read. I also added in the elements of the double pages folio and credits as well. I also changed 2 of the images, to show the models clothes, so that it would link with the headline "Build a new wardrobe".

After that, I decided to put in the running head at the top left hand corner of the magazine and the colour of the running head box was pink, to go with the theme of pink throughout the double page spread and magazine cover and I put white text on top of the box which said "Fashion Fix". I also changed the colour of one image pink, and I did that using Photoshop.

I added an image caption, to tell the readers what the images were, and I made the colour of the text white to protrude.

Then, I broke the text up by putting in another pull quote, in which I made the writing white again and place it over the top of a pink box and I made the quotation marks big to make it clear that it is a pull quote.

Then I changed the shape of the box which has the stand first text on it, to look more triangular, to link in with the triangle shaped images on the one side of the double page.

Using InDesign, I highlighted some of the text and I changed the size of the letter "L", which is the drop cap, to make it look more like a magazine double page spread.

This is my final double page spread, which I created using InDesign.

Adjustment Layers- Editing Photos

This is the original image, which i am adjusting the layers.

I adjusted the levels of the photo, to make the image have more black init.

Next, i did the colour balance of the photo. I added more of the colour red, green and blue, giving the photo more colour.

Then i adjusted the vibrance of the image. I changed the vibrance of how bright the image is and i adjusted the saturation, having more of the colour.
